Agriculture Minister Norbert Totschnig (ÖVP) expects this year a "massive" decline in farmers' incomes due to the record drought and high costs. The government's aid to drought and the insurance payments for drought damage would not compensate for the decline in income, said Totschnig on Tuesday. In the previous year, a good harvest and higher income in animal production had significantly increased agricultural incomes.
