TotalEnergies Profit Hits Record on High Oil Prices
The French oil major doubled earnings from a year earlier as record refining margins and stronger trading lifted downstream cash flow.
On Thursday, French energy giant TotalEnergies reported a record adjusted net income of $9.1 billion for the third quarter, surpassing average analyst expectations of $8.3 billion.
According to CEO Patrick Pouyanné, the gains resulted from historic refining margins and robust trading, as the Middle East conflict drove up hydrocarbon prices and LNG values.
TotalEnergies' downstream division booked a record $4.1 billion in operating income, while European peers like Shell reported $10.8 billion, tracking a sector-wide trend of exceptional profits.
The company confirmed a third interim dividend of €0.90 per share and plans $2.5 billion in share buybacks for the fourth quarter and first quarter 2027.
Management will launch a capital increase reserved for employees, who will benefit from a 20% discount on the share price, as TotalEnergies bolsters supply security across Europe.
