TikTok Temporarily Goes Dark in the United States Following Federal Ban
The app TikTok became unusable for Americans following a federal ban enacted by the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court upheld the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, which President Joe Biden signed in April.
The law requires service providers to stop supporting TikTok if ByteDance does not divest by Sunday.
Users received a message stating that the law would force services to be temporarily unavailable and that they are working to restore service in the US as soon as possible.
Beijing urges the United States to listen to “rational voices” regarding the TikTok ban, in the midst of the entry into force of the ban on the popular Chinese short video app ByteDance for reasons related to national security. (BEND)
