Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden active for game against Panthers
Golden will play despite shoulder and foot injuries, giving Green Bay another receiver as the Panthers' depleted secondary faces more absences.
On Thursday night at Lambeau Field, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt were active against the Carolina Panthers. Both players had been listed as questionable before the Week 8 matchup.
Green Bay had listed Golden as questionable Wednesday with shoulder and foot injuries, while Wyatt managed an ankle issue. Cornerback Keisean Nixon was a late addition to the injury report Thursday morning, yet all three players were active for kickoff.
The Packers ruled out tight end Jonnu Smith, running back Kaleb Johnson, linebacker Zaire Franklin, offensive lineman Donovan Jennings, center Sean Rhyan, and guard Travis Glover. Panthers defensive tackle Bobby Brown was inactive with a hand injury.
Carolina faced significant defensive personnel challenges, placing cornerback Akayleb Evans on injured reserve Thursday. With cornerbacks Mike Jackson and Jaycee Horn already sidelined, the team relied on a depleted secondary.
Quarterback Jordan Love, who has recorded 1,958 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, looked to lead the 4-3 Packers to a rebound. The team aimed to improve after a 20-17 loss to the Detroit Lions four days ago.
