The traffic system in Joshimath has collapsed amid the surging crowds of devotees at Badrinath Dham. A 7-8 kilometer-long jam stretched from the petrol pump to the Narsingh Temple, Marwari Chowk, and Jogidhara. Passengers in vehicles had to wait for one to three hours. Under the gate system, traffic in one direction is being stopped and vehicles in the other direction are being allowed to pass.
