Think the PS5 Pro is too expensive? This infamously pricey gaming console is coming back from the dead

The console uses re-engineered ASIC chips, adds HDMI output and supports classic games, while launching at $249.99, SNK said.

  • Plaion Replai and SNK announced the Neo Geo AES+ retro console today, a modern revival of the 1990s luxury system launching November 12, 2026, with pre-orders available immediately.
  • Originally released in the 1990s, the Neo Geo AES retailed for $649.99, or over $1,600 when adjusted for inflation. The new AES+ is considerably cheaper at $249.99 for the Standard Edition.
  • Rather than relying on emulation, the AES+ utilizes re-engineered ASIC chips to deliver authentic performance. It features modern HDMI output while maintaining full compatibility with original Neo Geo AES cartridges and controllers.
  • An all-white 35th Anniversary Edition retails for $349.99 alongside the Standard Edition. The console launches with 10 classic titles including Metal Slug and King of Fighters 2002.
  • For collectors, an Ultimate Edition bundles the console with all launch accessories and games for $999.99. More software releases are expected to follow the initial launch lineup.
