These US high school seniors teach older adults around the world how to use technology
Canterbury High students teach seniors technology skills through CLEO, a program that now serves older adults across the United States and internationally.
Six years ago, Canterbury High School students launched Computer Literacy Education Outreach , a program teaching seniors how to use technology and stay connected to the world around them.
The project originated as a way for students to stay in touch with their own grandparents, driven by confidence they could help seniors resolve technology issues.
Student volunteers visit Brookdale Senior Living weekly, where resident Bob Bockman admitted, "I don't do any of it" regarding his interest in technology.
Executive Director Bradley Laquis described the initiative as "very meaningful," noting that "seeing the smile on the senior citizens' faces truly just means a lot."
The initiative has grown from helping seniors in one city into a nationwide and international program, with resident Jeanne McCafferty in Lee County, Florida, praising the students' dedication.
