The government announced this Monday evening that it would like to study the conditions for a vaccination obligation for influenza care providers, after a favourable opinion from the High Health Authority.
The independent authority recommends a vaccination obligation for all employed and liberal health professionals, students in medical and paramedical fields and staff of medical and social institutions in contact (hygiene care, daily help, etc.) with elderly people, who die in numbers at each epidemic. In a notice issued on Monday, the HAS noted that the high coverage rate for people aged 65 and over living in the community is not sufficient to prevent the frequent occurrence of influenza episodes in Ehpad.
In order to enter into force, this recommendation, which shares the same conclusions as a report by the Academy of Medicine published in May, must be the subject of a decree in the Council of State specifying its modalities and the personnel concerned.
