First Canadian X Games headed to Calgary’s Canada Olympic Park next February
- Calgary will host the first X Games ever held in Canada at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park from Feb. 19 to 21, 2027, marking the first time in the 31-year history of the competition that it will be held in Canada.
- Athletes compete individually while earning points for four clubs as part of the inaugural X Games League winter season. XC Golden State, XC New York, XC Park City and XC Whistler will select athletes Wednesday in Los Angeles.
- Officials expect roughly 15,000 to 20,000 spectators for the three-day competition, with $99 weekend passes available. Tourism Calgary president and CEO Alisha Reynolds estimates the event will deliver a $25 million boost to the visitor economy.
- Calgarian Brendan Mackay, a freestyle skier with Team Canada, says hosting will be "impactful on all the young kids." The event includes two nights of concerts featuring Levity and Steve Aoki alongside the SnowRodeo FIS World Cup.
- With 366 medals, Canada holds the second-most worldwide, and more than 180 skiers and snowboarders are eligible for the upcoming season. Professional snowboarder Craig McMorris, who credits Canada Olympic Park for his success, is excited for the event to finally come to Canada.
