Smilla Kolbe has offered the highlight of the second day of the European Championships in Athletics. In her preliminary run, she was the first German runner to remain below 1:58 minutes since 1990.
Smilla Kolbe has been running the fastest German time since 1990 for over 800 metres. Her teammate Majtie Kolberg, on the other hand, has to give up in pain – and only one of three German discus throwers makes it to the final.
She wanted to enter the semi-finals, but the 800-meter run ended dramatically for Majtie Kolberg. An injury from the preparation forced her to give up. Then tears flowed.
