Scottie Barnes Says Toronto Raptors Expectations Haven’t Changed, but Goals Have
Barnes said the Raptors still expect to win a championship, even as Leonard’s return raised outside hopes for a deeper playoff run.
- All-Star Scottie Barnes stated that Raptors' internal expectations remain unchanged following Kawhi Leonard's return, emphasizing that the team's overarching goal remains winning a championship.
- Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic set a new individual target for Barnes, specifically pushing for an All-Defensive First Team selection after his second-team placement last year.
- Barnes hit career highs of 1.5 blocks and 1.4 steals per game last season, metrics that anchored the Raptors' fifth-ranked defence.
- "We've got to get over that hump in the playoffs, for sure," Barnes said, believing Leonard's addition as a seven-time All-Defensive Team player will help advance past the first round.
- Looking ahead to the regular season, Barnes aims to refine his offensive game in late-game situations, saying "I do what I do, and I make an impact on that floor every single night.
