The New Codes of Sneaker Culture: PANE’s Art de Vivre at Paris Fashion Week
. We have long seen sneakers become an undeniable statement at Fashion Week. From the streets of Paris to the front rows, they have risen as a wardrobe staple, transcending seasons, styles, and generations. No longer simply a matter of comfort, they embody a cultural shift in how we approach fashion, balancing versatility, individuality, and thoughtful design in a singular expression of style. With independent footwear labels increasingly challenging traditional luxury codes, the sneaker landscape continues to evolve. Among the names to watch is PANE, the Shanghai-born brand making its Parisian debut. Founded in 2022, PANE approaches footwear through a philosophy of Timeless. Motion. Authentic. Think understated silhouettes, considered craftsmanship and an aesthetic that speaks to those who appreciate design without the need for excess. Its signature NO-GI sneaker, inspired by the classic German Army Trainer, has already attracted attention, alongside the Riviera Run, Zephyr Training and Pace Nostalgia. The recent tennis-inspired collaboration with HEAD further explores the intersection of sporting heritage and contemporary style. By placing creativity and meaningful exchange at the heart of its Paris Fashion Week debut, PANE offered a more considered take on the traditional brand launch. The evening unfolded through a series of encounters, from Nesrine Slaoui’s reflections on identity and representation to Sofia de Moser Leitão’s sculptural interventions and Jorick Dorignac’s culinary compositions. Each brought a distinct sensibility to the table, creating an atmosphere closer to an intimate creative salon – a glimpse of a vision that extends beyond footwear into the wider landscape of contemporary creativity. Three disciplines, three distinct creative voices, and a shared appreciation for storytelling beyond fashion. What makes this approach particularly interesting is how naturally it reflects a broader shift in the industry. Today, a brand’s relevance extends beyond what we wear. It is equally shaped by the conversations it initiates, the communities it brings together and the creative spaces it chooses to explore. The evening marked the beginning of a month-long series of activations ahead of the label’s French retail debut at Le Bon Marché at the end of October. PANE’s Parisian arrival suggests another direction: one where a good pair of sneakers can be the starting point for a much larger cultural conversation – and perhaps that is the real essential this season.
