Nintendo Explains Why 'Zelda: Ocarina of Time' Remake Won't Have the Open World of 'Breath of the Wild'
Nintendo's 'Ocarina of Time' remake keeps the original's structured exploration on Switch 2 and helps younger developers study Zelda's design history. Launches on 5 November 2026.
Nintendo released a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, 28 years after the original on Nintendo 64 on Thursday, November 5, on Switch 2. Eiji Aonuma, producer of the series, explains that he launched it in part for his teams, many of which worked only on the recent Zelda.
