KEF’s Designer LS LUXE Speakers Are Its Most Ambitious Yet – channelnews
KEF has launched its new LS LUXE wireless speaker system, featuring a sculptural design created by industrial designer Ross Lovegrove. Priced at A$6,375 per pair, plus optional floor stands at A$1,230, the LS LUXE sits above KEF’s LS50 Wireless II and is described by the British audio brand as its most ambitious wireless Hi-Fi system to date. The rounded enclosure was developed by Lovegrove, who previously worked with KEF on products including the ultra-premium MUON loudspeakers, Mu headphones and Muo portable speaker. Each speaker features KEF’s 12th-generation 6.5-inch Uni-Q driver, which positions the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the mid-bass driver to create more consistent sound dispersion across a room. Metamaterial Absorption Technology is claimed to absorb 99% of unwanted sound from behind the tweeter, while a flexible decoupling chassis isolates the driver assembly from cabinet vibrations. The LS LUXE is also KEF’s first stereo loudspeaker to use ‘Velocity Control Technology’, following its introduction in the company’s XIO soundbar. The system uses a sensor to monitor driver movement in real time, allowing the amplifier to correct inconsistencies and reduce bass distortion. Each enclosure combines a 100W Class AB amplifier with a 280W Class D amplifier, delivering 760W across the stereo pair. “LS LUXE represents a new chapter for KEF, bringing together decades of acoustic innovation with a design-first approach that’s increasingly resonating with Australian consumers,” said Nigel Ng, Director of Advance Audio Australia, KEF’s exclusive distributor in ANZ. KEF’s W2 wireless platform supports high-resolution audio files up to 24-bit/384kHz, alongside Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, AirPlay, Google Cast, Amazon Music, Qobuz and Deezer. HDMI eARC, optical, coaxial and analogue inputs are included, allowing the speakers to connect to televisions, game consoles, CD players and other equipment. Each speaker also has a dedicated subwoofer output. The LS LUXE is available in dusk titanium, eclipse black and mineral white.
