The Insta360 Mic Swaps Internal Storage for microSD for an $80 Discount
The pared-down system keeps customizable E Ink branding and AI noise canceling while shifting backup recording to removable microSD cards.
- On Thursday, Insta360 released the new Mic, a $250 wireless microphone system featuring a customizable E-ink display and expandable microSD storage. The device bridges the pricing gap between the premium Mic Pro and the budget Mic Air.
- To bridge the gap between the $330 Mic Pro and the Mic Air, Insta360 developed the new Mic by swapping the Pro's built-in SSD for user-provided microSD cards, reducing the bundle price to $250 for two transmitters and one receiver.
- Battery life reaches 13 hours per transmitter, extending to 34 hours with the charging case, while transmitters deliver a range of up to 400 meters. Users retain the 1.22-inch customizable E-ink display for brand customization.
- Compatible with Insta360 cameras like the Luna Ultra, the system connects via Bluetooth or the included wireless receiver. Users can mix Mic and Mic Pro transmitters on a single receiver to record four-person conversations without replacing existing hardware.
- The system utilizes NPU-based processing for AI noise canceling, helping creators capture clear audio in noisy environments. While the hardware lacks the Pro's triple-mic array, the Mic provides a more affordable, flexible solution for content creators.
