In Demirci district of Manisa, almond producers have started protecting their orchards from frost using the smoke method due to air temperatures dropping to -3 degrees Celsius. Farmers are trying to protect their trees by burning straw bales and almond shells due to the cold weather expected to last until April 11th.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that all teams are in the field to prepare for the risk of agricultural frost, which is expected to last until April 11.
