The Ministries of Infrastructure and Justice are working on amendments to the Penal Code regarding road safety. As announced on Thursday by Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak, drivers who cause a hazard or catastrophe in road traffic will face a driving ban of more than three years. But that's not all!

The discipline of Polish drivers at railway crossings has left much to be desired for years. Frequent disregard for signals, barriers, and other control systems has prompted the authorities to take decisive action. Upcoming changes to road traffic law will severely impact drivers who thoughtlessly risk their lives on the tracks.

Only after the tragedy did the government announce tougher penalties for breaking the rules at road and rail crossings.

Any driver who enters a railway crossing on a red light will face a three-month driving license suspension – these changes were announced by Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak. The draft regulations are expected to be ready by the next Council of Ministers meeting.
