The number of jobs in the German automotive industry is currently falling faster than in any other industrial sector. Employment in the sector has fallen to its lowest level since 2005, the German statistics office Destatis announced a few days ago.
The German car industry loses 42,300 employees within one year. Thus, the number of jobs falls to the lowest level since 2005. Employment also declines in other sectors.

Employment across Germany’s automotive sector fell to 721,400 workers at the end of September, the lowest level recorded since mid-2011 when the industry employed 718,000 people. The federal statistics office reported the sector shed 48,700 positions over the 12 months to September, representing a 6.3% decline and marking the steepest drop among major industrial sectors employing over 200,000 staff.
