More than 60,000 applications for Russian citizenship have been submitted by residents of the Transnistrian region, the Russian Embassy in Chisinau announces. The statement was made during a visit by Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozereov to the Transnistrian region, where he handed Russian passports to the first applicants who obtained citizenship under the simplified procedure.
Chisinau describes as an action "unfriendly and irresponsible" the granting of the first Russian passports by simplified procedure in the Transnistrian region.
