The Flaming Lips Announce New Album The Teardrop Throbs, Special Tour Dates
The album is led by “God Will Control the Werewolves” and includes a sequel to “Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell.”
The Flaming Lips announced their 17th studio album, The Teardrop Throbs, arriving January 22, 2027 via Third Man Records, with a supporting tour across the United States and United Kingdom.
This project marks the band's first new album in seven years following 2020's American Head and their first release in 35 years without multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd, who is no longer in the band.
Frontman Wayne Coyne said the album draws inspiration from "profound devotion of fatherhood" and existential reflections, with the release led by the single "God Will Control the Werewolves."
Each tour stop features two unique shows, with the band performing The Teardrop Throbs in its entirety on night one and "Songs from the 21st Century" on night two.
Tickets become available via artist pre-sale on Wednesday, October 28th at 10 a.m. local time, followed by Live Nation pre-sale Thursday, October 29th, and general public sales on Friday, October 30th.
