The illegal exploitation of alluvial gold in Colombia increased by 10 per cent in 2025 compared to the previous year, a joint report by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the government warned Friday.
Of the total area, 75% corresponds to illitic activity, while another 21% has technical or environmental permits and 4% is in transit to the legal system.
A government and Unodc report detected 118,410 hectares of alluvial gold exploitation last year, 75% of which is illicit activity.
