The desire to have children in Hungary at a decade-low

In March 2024, 6,413 children were born in Hungary, 10% less, 727 fewer newborns than a year earlier. The downward trend, which has been going on for about one and a half to two years, continues. According to the data of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, the decline is not only due to the decrease in childbearing-age women, but the willingness to have children has also decreased.
