A well-known manel singer is one of the people targeted by a DIICOT investigation into the sexual exploitation of dozens of young people in Europe, according to some media-quoted judicial sources. The artist's son is also involved in another criminal case, related to the fatal accident that occurred in July 2024 near the Parc Pantelimon in Bucharest.
The Burtea clan in Bucharest would have coordinated a network that sexually exploited about 30 young people in Europe, according to Newsweek Romania sources. The group would have run over 3 million euros, and two policemen are suspected of helping network members.
The DIICOT prosecutors conduct 36 searches in Bucharest, Ilfov and Buzău on Thursday, while 21 other raids take place in Germany and Austria.
