Mahito, the young protagonist of “The Boy and the Gara”, refuses to fly at the first opportunity given to him in the movie. The denial, in addition to the several initial invitations to adventure dismissed by the boy, is a radical gesture in the trajectory of director Hayao Miyazaki.
