The best book of 2025 is Mariborská hypnoza by writer Dora Kaprálová. The decision was made by members of the Litera association. The results were published on Saturday.
This year's 25th edition of the Magnesia Litera Book Awards brought not only a record number of submitted books and a higher financial bonus for the winners, but also repeated hugs from the moderator and a high number of women awarded. The book of the year was Dora Kaprálová's novella Mariborská hypnoza, which also took home the award for best prose.
Two awards at this year's Magnesia Litera Awards went to Dora Kaprálová and her Mariborská hypnosa. The Brno-based Host publishing house also did well, winning four awards.
The most popular book at this year's Magnesia Litera was Mariborská hypnozá. A delicate prose in which the past merges with the present and ruminations with reflections on writing. It was written by the poet's daughter, who works as a bookseller in Berlin.
