Texans Have Surprising Injury Concern of Their Own
The Texans are testing the injury’s severity as they weigh depth options behind C.J. Stroud’s top receiver.
On Wednesday, Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins suffered a hamstring injury during practice, while defensive end Jadeveon Clowney missed the session with a knee issue, leaving both players' availability for Sunday's Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals uncertain.
Team doctors reportedly do not believe Collins' injury is "serious," yet the six-year veteran has battled multiple tissue issues throughout his career, including a 2024 hamstring injury that forced him to miss five games.
Collins, 27, remains the Texans' primary offensive weapon after recording seven receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 36-31 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
The Texans signed wide receiver Bryce Oliver to the practice squad, a move viewed by some as an ominous sign regarding Collins' status for the upcoming matchup.
Further testing is underway to determine the severity of Collins' hamstring injury, while head coach DeMeco Ryans expects defensive end Clowney to practice Thursday as clarity emerges over the next two days.
