With the proliferation of AI models, a critical development is occurring that is shifting the balance on the hardware side. A new open-source tool reveals the hardware-limited AI processing capabilities of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 and RTX 40 series graphics cards. The software, which works without the need for vBIOS flashing or physical intervention, nearly doubles the FP16 and BF16 computation speeds of the cards.
Nvidia RTX 20, 30, and 40-series GPUs hacked to remove a half-speed AI throttle — firmware exploit doubles RTX 4090's peak tensor rate, lifts RTX 3090 Ti matrix math up to 80%
Linux kernel modules lift Nvidia’s half-rate AI tensor limit on GeForce RTX 20, 30, and 40-series GPUs.
Modder have found ways to lift artificial performance restrictions for AI calculations on several generations of GeForce cards. The tensor throughput on RTX-20, RTX-30 and RTX-40 models is almost doubled - not good news for gamers. (Read more)
Since the arrival of the GeForce RTX in 2018 and the introduction of the Tensor Cores with Turing architecture, NVIDIA has ceased to boost the IA computing capabilities of its graphics cards over the generations. These units specializing in matrix operations are used both for certain rendering functions, such as the DLSS, as well as for the execution of local d的IA models...
Last weekend, we wrote about unlocking additional performance in the flagship GeForce RTX 30 series cards. It turns out, however, that the issue is much broader, as the open-source GPU Unlock tool from GitHub user...
