TC Energy Completes Indigenous Investment Deal in Coastal GasLink
Five First Nations will gain an economic interest in Coastal GasLink, and TC Energy says a second Indigenous transaction is planned for later this year.
On Tuesday, TC Energy announced the closing of an agreement with FN CGL Pipeline Limited Partnership, granting five First Nations an economic interest in the Coastal GasLink pipeline.
The Haisla Nation, Halfway River First Nation, McLeod Lake Indian Band, Saulteau First Nations, and West Moberly First Nations joined the investment entity, building on more than a decade of partnership.
TC Energy President and Chief Executive Officer François Poirier said, "This agreement turns years of partnership into long-term economic opportunity," providing communities with predictable financial returns.
West Moberly First Nations Chief Roland Willson stated the framework recognizes the importance of financial certainty, supporting communities' ability to make decisions about their own economic future.
This transaction is the first of two planned deals regarding Coastal GasLink, with a second investment involving additional Indigenous groups expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
