What a 'Gouda' Boy! Officers Use Cheese to Save Dog Trapped in Florida Storm Drain
Officers and volunteers lowered cheese into a bucket to lure the puppy out, and the dog was adopted after animal control took custody.
Officers from the Tampa Police Department recently responded to a call for a small dog stuck in a drain in Tampa, requiring creative intervention to extract the animal from the tight spot.
Then, an officer had a "Gouda" idea to lure the puppy; officers and volunteers filled a bucket with cheese and lowered it into the drain using a rope.
"Like, you can put it into the bottom of this thing so it can climb into it?" one officer asked, as the team hoped the puppy would take the bait.
After a few minutes, the puppy hopped into the bucket; officers pulled the rope, bringing the bucket and the dog out of the drain and into safe hands.
Detectives turned the dog over to Control, and following the rescue, the puppy has already found his forever home, according to the Tampa Police.
