Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay increased health insurance coverage to twenty-five lakh rupees. He also announced a hike in Aavin milk procurement prices for farmers. Cooperative farm loans up to seventy-five thousand rupees will receive a full waiver. Additional farm loan relief will benefit over one lakh thirty-eight thousand farmers. This move follows consultations with agricultural unions held in August 2026.
Tamil Nadu govt announces major measures on milk procurement, healthcare, medical education
The government has announced an increase in the milk procurement price from ₹38 to ₹41 per litre. The announcement states that, as a result of the increase, the government will incur an additional expenditure of ₹30 crore per month and ₹360 crore per year.
The Tamil Nadu government has proposed increasing the annual treatment limit under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme from ₹5 lakh to ₹2.5 million. The purchase price of milk has also been increased.
