The EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is turning embedded carbon emissions into a key business cost. McKinsey says companies can reduce exposure by using verified emissions data, choosing lower-carbon suppliers and integrating carbon into financial risk management. From 2027, CBAM certificates will make carbon pricing a structural factor in European procurement and competitiveness.
