Taiwan detected five Chinese aircraft sorties and numerous naval vessels operating nearby. Three of these aircraft entered Taiwan's northern and eastern Air Defence Identification Zone. On the previous day, one Chinese aircraft entered the northern ADIZ with many vessels. China asserts Taiwan is an inseparable part of its territory. Taiwan maintains its own independent government and military forces.

According to Taiwan's Ministry of Defence, three of the five PLA aircraft sorties entered the country's northern and eastern parts of its Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).
