Legal AI Startup Legora Raises $550 Million to Speed up US Expansion
Legora will use $550 million raised to accelerate U.S. growth, planning new hubs and expanding to 300 employees amid a competitive legal AI market, CEO said.
On Tuesday, Legora announced a $550 million Series D at a $5.55 billion valuation led by Accel with returning backers.
To accelerate U.S. growth, Legora will use funding to expand across the United States and hire locally after U.S. adoption exceeded expectations and it headquartered in New York.
The platform now serves 800 customers across more than 50 markets and handles document review, legal research, contract drafting, integrating with Microsoft Word and Outlook using Claude and an agentic workflows layer.
Legora will open offices in Houston and Chicago and grow to more than 300 employees by the end of 2026, intensifying competition with Harvey, Microsoft Copilot, and generalist LLMs.
As part of rapid scale-up, Legora's third raise in the past year follows growth from 40 to 400 employees amid a European AI funding surge exceeding $9 billion.
The Swedish start-up company Legora is now worth $5,5 billion, making it one of Europe's most successful AI companies despite competition from OpenAI and Anthropic.
