Video appears to show New York City bomb suspect buying fuse at a fireworks store
Emir Balat bought a 20-foot fireworks safety fuse days before the alleged ISIS-inspired attack in NYC; FBI conducted controlled detonations at a Bucks County storage unit.
- On March 2, Emir Balat, an 18-year-old Bucks County teen, purchased a 20-foot coil of safety fuse for $6.89 at Phantom Fireworks, Penndel store, shown in released surveillance footage.
- Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi told investigators they were inspired by the Islamic State group and traveled to New York City to join a rally organized by Jake Lang.
- Investigators say Balat and Kayumi assembled jar-sized improvised explosive devices containing TATP, a fuse, and duct-taped nuts and bolts, while journalists photographed Balat hurling a smoking device that extinguished itself.
- On Saturday, authorities say Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi were arrested after attempting to set off explosives near Gracie Mansion, Manhattan; they face federal charges and were held without bail after a Monday court appearance.
- Federal agents searched a Langhorne storage facility and conducted several controlled detonations performed overnight Monday, while the FBI says it continues probing the ISIS-inspired investigation.
