Essential Services Hit by Protests: Supreme Court to Hear Plea

The court said its protection applies only to protesters facing heinous criminal charges and ordered independent probes, minor releases and evidence preservation.

The Supreme Court will hear a plea concerning essential services disrupted during protests. A three-member bench, led by the Chief Justice, will consider the matter. This plea will be joined with another case about protest venues. The court acknowledged concerns about blocked ingress and egress during demonstrations. The bench will hear arguments on how to issue relevant directions.
