This summer's historic heat waves have already caused more than 30 000 deaths in Europe, according to the European Surmortality Monitoring Platform (EuroMomo).
Between mid-June and mid-August, the European surmortality monitoring platform estimates that more than 32 000 excess deaths in Europe are due to high heat.
Several countries have registered a clear increase in the number of deaths during the weeks and days of the summer when Europe was hardest hit by heat waves.
