The Arab countries presented last Tuesday an ambitious reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip, valued at $53 billion. This project emerged as an alternative to the American proposals, which unleashed international repudiation for suggesting measures such as total control of the enclave and the possible displacement of its population.

The Egyptian proposal does not include the exile of Palestinians, but it is not convincing - it does not explain how Hamas will be removed, and it provides for administrative control by the Palestinian authority, in a two-state solution - and so it will be doomed to failure. Israel and the United States have already rejected it

While Hamas, which is not included in the future administration of the Palestinian territory, welcomes the Arab vision, Israel and the US have already rejected it.
