Steelers to Sign Buccaneers' Six-Year Veteran CB After Joey Porter Jr. Trade
Sean Murphy-Bunting brings 82 games of NFL experience and 11 interceptions as Pittsburgh adds depth to a secondary hit by injuries.
On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed veteran cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad to their active roster.
Pittsburgh sought reinforcements after trading Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys last week, then Jamel Dean suffered an ankle injury in Thursday's loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Murphy-Bunting brings 82 NFL games with 65 starts, 297 tackles and 11 interceptions, having helped the Buccaneers defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.
The addition provides immediate depth behind starters Asante Samuel Jr. and Daylen Everette, with Murphy-Bunting's slot experience offering flexibility while Dean recovers.
Pittsburgh will rely on this secondary depth this Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, aiming to improve consistency within the competitive AFC North.
