Valve's Steam Deck OLED Is Out of Stock in the US, and I Think We Can Guess Why
Valve's Steam Deck OLED models are sold out amid global PC parts shortages and trade tensions, with delays expected to continue following the 2025 LCD model production halt.
Late on February 10, Valve's Steam Deck OLED and 256GB Steam Deck LCD sold out on Valve's official online store in the US and remained unavailable over 12 hours later.
Last week, Valve warned that RAM shortages from AI data centers forced it to revisit pricing and launch timing for Steam Machine and Steam Frame, straining availability within days.
Using a Poland VPN, we found OLED stock still available in parts of Europe while third-party sellers on Newegg mark up units to $1,099 from Valve's $649, with some premiums around $100.
Consumers now face inflated Steam Deck prices from third-party retailers as the 256GB Steam Deck LCD sold out after production halted in December 2025, and some suspect Valve is rationing memory for new devices.
With the Steam Machine still slated for early 2026, Valve has delayed revealing prices, while Japan's store page shows a late February restock amid RAM shortages.
The global crisis in storage components seems to Valve to be too hollow. Thus, the Steam Deck is not available in many regions of the world. The manufacturer may soon be forced to increase the prices for the handheld. (Continue reading)
