Statesboro man charged with murder in deadly Cinco de Mayo restaurant shooting

Police say a 22-year-old Statesboro man has been arrested for a Cinco de Mayo restaurant shooting that killed one person and injured another.

Following a tip from the public, Andrew White, 22, of Statesboro was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force on August 25th, 2026. White had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in the May 5 murder of Gregory Johnson Jr., who was shot and killed during a gathering at the Azul Restaurant on South Main Street.

Capt. Jared Akins with the Statesboro Police Department said a suspect in a May 5 shooting that left a Statesboro man dead and a woman wounded by a gunshot was arrested Tuesday on an outstanding warrant for murder.
