Police: Canterbury Man Dead After Being Shot by His Brother in New York
Scot D. Thompson faces two counts of second-degree murder and firearm charges after a physical fight escalated to fatal shootings at a hunting cabin, police said.
- On Nov. 23, authorities charged Scot D. Thompson with two counts each of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal use of a firearm in the deaths of Mark B. Thompson and David E. Thompson at a Botsford Hollow Road cabin in the Town of Allen.
- A physical altercation at the cabin prompted the three brothers to fight, and investigators say one brother called 911 during the incident.
- State troopers arrived just after 10 p.m. Sunday and found two men dead inside, with police saying Scot Thompson fatally shot his brothers using a rifle during the altercation.
- Authorities say the suspect drove away in a brother's vehicle before Livingston County and Geneseo officers found David Thompson’s vehicle in Geneseo, arrested Scot Thompson without incident, processed him at SP Amity, and scheduled autopsies at Strong Memorial Hospital.
