‘Start drinking earlier;’ Lane Kiffin challenges LSU fans ahead of afternoon Alabama game
Kiffin said fans should start their day earlier and help LSU top Tennessee’s 130.3-decibel college football noise record.
On Monday, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin expressed frustration that Saturday's matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide at Tiger Stadium is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff rather than a night game.
For 16 years, the rivalry game has been played at night, and Kiffin said, "I never even considered that it wouldn't be at night." His surprise underscores the historical precedent.
Hoping to create a home-field advantage, Kiffin challenged fans to break the 130.8 dB noise record set by Tennessee at Neyland Stadium during their recent win over Alabama.
To prepare for the earlier start, Kiffin jokingly suggested Baton Rouge should shut down by 10 p.m. Friday, telling fans, "Go to bed earlier Friday night. That's my message for our fans."
The game remains critical for the 6-2 Tigers; Kiffin advised players to ignore Tuesday's College Football Playoff rankings and focus on winning to secure their postseason standing.
