Sony Updates a Cult-Favorite Cheap Bluetooth Turntable with Not One but Two New Models – but There's a Catch

Sony introduces two Bluetooth-enabled turntables priced at $399.99 and $499.99 with one-button operation and USB digitization, targeting vinyl newcomers and enthusiasts.

  • Sony Electronics unveiled two belt-drive turntables, the PS-LX3BT and PS-LX5BT, marking its first new models since 2019.
  • Sony designed the new decks to be simple and intuitive to remove small frictions and draw in newcomers and returning vinyl enthusiasts, while Sony and TCL are exploring a joint venture for Sony's home audio business.
  • Both turntables include one-button automatic playback, a transparent dust cover, a built-in switchable EQ , Bluetooth aptX and aptX Adaptive, and a USB output with three-level gain.
  • Sony positions the PS-LX3BT as a replacement for the PS-LX310BT aimed at first-time buyers, while the PS-LX5BT adds higher-grade components and detachable cables for richer sound, but these could be Sony's last turntables.
  • Available through Sony.com, Best Buy, Amazon, the PS-LX3BT is now for pre-order, and the PS-LX5BT will follow soon, both arriving in recycled packaging supporting 33 1/3 and 45 RPM records.
