Ukraine says 1,003 bodies of fallen soldiers return home
Under Istanbul agreements, Russia returned 1,003 Ukrainian bodies while receiving 26 Russian ones, continuing rare cooperation amid ongoing conflict, officials said.

- During the 2025 Istanbul talks, Moscow and Kyiv agreed to exchange the bodies of 6,000 soldiers each, marking one of the few cooperation areas since the February 2022 invasion with returns rising after early 2025 talks.
- Images published by the Coordination Headquarters depict people in white hazmat suits around refrigerated trucks, while the International Committee of the Red Cross helped repatriation and Ukrainian law enforcement and Interior Ministry units will identify the bodies.
