VIDEO - During the traditional ceremony of the galette de l'Epiphanie at the Palais de l'Elysée in Paris, Emmanuel Macron announced his willingness to have the cafés and bistros of France recognized by Unesco.
The President of the Republic would like these places of conviviality to be inscribed in the intangible heritage of Unesco. This is what he said this Monday during the traditional presentation of the galette de l'Épiphanie, at the Élysée. The association of Bistrots and Cafés de France launched in 2024 an initiative in this direction. - Emmanuel Macron pleads in favour of the inclusion of French bistros and cafés in the UNESCO heritage (Policy).
The Association des Bistrots et Cafés de France also defends this idea, and left an initiative on the subject in 2024.
President Emmanuel Macron wishes to enhance "French know-how" by supporting the registration of French bistros and cafés at Unesco and by adapting labour legislation on May 1st.
The President of the Republic also supported the possibility for bakeries and other food shops to employ staff on 1 May.
