SMU to take part in “Spikes Under the Lights” debut at AT&T Stadium with $1M prize pool
The single-night event will award a $1 million prize pool and air in primetime as organizers aim to boost women’s volleyball.
On Tuesday, Full Day Productions and GSE Worldwide announced that Nebraska, Penn State, SMU, and Florida will compete in 'Spikes Under the Lights' on Aug. 27 at AT&T Stadium for a $1 million prize pool.
Each team receives a $200,000 appearance fee, with an additional $200,000 in prize money at stake; organizers designed the competition with two semifinal matches followed by a final using a best-of-three set format.
This historic event marks the first women's college sporting competition at the Dallas Cowboys' home stadium, building on momentum from a 2023 outdoor event in Lincoln that drew a record crowd of 92,003.
"We are excited and honored to be part of this historic event," Nebraska coach Dani Busboom Kelly said, while Chief Business Officer Nickole Tara emphasized creating owned live properties to expand women's sports.
Planned as an annual event, the showcase will air live in primetime on a major national network, with ticket pre-sales for suite holders beginning Monday and public sales May 7 and May 8.
