Prop Plane Crash in San Jose Injures 3, Including Child
Faulty landing gear caused the crash, and three people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.
A small propeller plane crashed onto a San Jose street Saturday afternoon near Capitol Expressway and Excalibur Drive, injuring three people including a child.
This incident marks the second crash in San Jose in two days, following a Friday evening landing at Reid-Hillview Airport where faulty landing gear caused an aircraft to go down.
Two adults and one child suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were hospitalized 'out of an abundance of caution,' while the San Jose Fire Department absorbed a minor fuel spill.
Federal Aviation Administration records identify the aircraft as a 1968 Cessna 177A Cardinal registered to Flying Twenty Inc., a nonprofit flight club for San Jose State University.
Officials continue to investigate the cause of Saturday's crash, which involved no other vehicles on the ground, according to the department.
