Skydance Is Raising The Price of Its Discovery+ Streaming Service Just One Week After Buying It
The ad-supported plan rose to $6.99 a month and the ad-free plan to $11.99 as new owner Skydance moved quickly on pricing.
On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Discovery+ raised U.S. subscription prices, increasing its ad-supported plan by $1 to $6.99 monthly and its ad-free tier by $2 to $11.99 monthly, effective immediately for new subscribers.
Following the $110 billion merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, which closed last week, Skydance Corp. was formed to address nearly $80 billion in debt while pursuing $6 billion in cost savings.
Existing subscribers will receive 30 days notice before rate increases take effect, with updated prices appearing on billing statements on or after November 12, 2026, according to the company.
Skydance Chairman and CEO David Ellison has outlined plans to merge HBO Max and Paramount+ into a single application over time, though executives have not clarified whether Discovery+ will remain independent.
As of August 2026, Antenna estimated Discovery+ has 4.9 million U.S. subscribers accessing unscripted programming like "90 Day Fiancé" and "Deadliest Catch" alongside lifestyle content from HGTV and Food Network.
