More than 30 millimetres of rain from an atmospheric river has helped firefighters containing the 36.68-square-kilometre Mount Underwood wildfire on Vancouver Island.
- The BC Wildfire Service reports that significant rainfall has slowed the spread of the Mount Underwood wildfire on Vancouver Island, leading to minimal growth over the past 24 hours.
- The Mount Underwood wildfire, currently measuring 36.68 square kilometers, has around 168 firefighters and 19 heavy equipment units working to control the blaze.
- While the rainfall has helped create safer conditions for crews, the Alberni Clayoquot Regional District warns that it does not mean it is safe to enter evacuation zones due to risks of fallen trees and rocks.
