Shoppers urged to sign petition calling for 90 minutes free parking in town centres
Retail event organiser Spring & Autumn Fair says 63% of 2,000 consumers would visit high streets more often if parking were free for 90 minutes.
Spring & Autumn Fair launched a parliamentary petition calling for 90 minutes of free parking nationwide to help boost Britain's high streets.
Inconsistent parking rules create a 'parking postcode lottery,' as some towns offer 30 minutes of free parking while others provide none at all.
According to the Voice of Retail report, nearly 40% of 650 independent retailers identify free parking as crucial, while 63% of over 2,000 consumers say it encourages high street visits.
British fashion designer Jeff Banks, co-founder of the Warehouse chain, signed the petition and is urging shoppers to follow suit to support local businesses.
Jackson Szabo, portfolio director at Spring & Autumn Fair, stated "Every signature is a vote for stronger local communities," emphasizing the campaign's broader impact on local economies.
